It is a very rainy evening, and I am at the office getting ready to leave for the day and not looking forward to the dash to my car. I hear one of my coworkers, who has also put in a full day already, still working downstairs. Then I think of the volunteers who went out earlier today in this rainy weather and the others who will fill carts and go out this evening to serve those on the streets in need of food and perhaps prayer. Another staff member who works long hours and despite being off for the day is still checking emails and helping to ensure problems get fixed.
The prospect of getting wet sprinting to the car is no longer much of an issue because I am realizing the amount of dedication our staff and all our volunteers have for our clients. It is clear they want to show the love of Christ to others. So thank you to my co-workers and volunteers for demonstrating Acts 20:35:
“In all things, I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive”.
