Nature

One thing none of us can change or control is nature. The weather will be what it will be. But when we have bad weather, what do you think of?

On the weekend, we had one such weather storm roll through. It started off with snow, turned to freezing rain, and then to rain. Each step became a challenge for many.

My thoughts went to those on the streets. Sadly, we see so many on the streets on a regular basis. As I see them, it is sometimes easy to figure out that they are couch-surfing and not completely homeless. Sometimes, you see someone who you know truly is homeless as you drive by in your car, on the bus, or even walking down the street. Those who couch surf will have somewhere to go to get warm overnight, but those who do not, where do they go? How will they dry off?

This is one reason I love that OIM gives out winter wear on Thursdays. For some, it’s a better coat to stay warm and dry in this crazy weather. I mean, we are now entering April, and it is spring, so to get freezing rain is beyond wild!

So, as you unpack your winter clothes in the fall, my prayer is that you'll think of this blog and all those on the street who could use all those items you no longer want. So many people come to OIM looking for a bit of warmth and comfort. It is always such a blessing to be able to provide what they need.

Thank you, each and every one of you, for all that you do each day, week, or month for OIM!
