On Tuesday November 2nd OIM held their annual Thanksgiving Dinner at Knox Presbyterian Church, but this year it was a takeaway dinner. The donations of time (which has many different forms), money, and food, truly are a blessing to those who receive the meals handed out. People really do see the love and kindness freely given to them through dinners like these.
It is sometimes hard to know what effect our actions have on others. We may ask ourselves “Is what I am (doing or giving) really going to make any difference at all?”
The answer to that is “YES”. Here are some comments told to us on Tuesday:
“Thanks for your continuing support no one else helps us like you do God bless.”
“Thank you for all you do, I would be lost without your help and have nowhere else to turn too.”
“Nice to see your friendly smile and the love and care you continue to show.”
Those who receive the meals are not the only one who sees your kindness, but God also sees.
Proverbs 19:17 (ESV) “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed”
Matthew 16:27 (ESV) “For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done.”
So all the volunteers, the donors of food and money, really do have an impact, not only here on earth, but also in heaven.
